Children's Nutrition Coaching
Did you know that:

35% of children are now considered overweight or obese and the numbers are climbing

It's estimated that 1/3 of the children born in 2000 will have Type II diabetes by the age of 30

Children now take more prescription medications than senior citizens do

Cancer is the #1 killer of children

By age 12, 70% of our children have developed the beginning stages of hardening of the arteries

Only 27% of public schools require nutrition education through grade 6 and by high school, it's 10%

These statistics may seem discouraging but there is hope for the health of our children!  Doctors estimate that over 75% of illness and disease is caused by diet and lifestyle and the time to learn and apply healthy
habits for life is during childhood.

Many children face special challenges when it comes to learning and applying healthy eating habits that can
help them lead healthier lives.  To assist children in making good food choices we offer nutritional coaching
services.   Objectives of the children's nutritional coaching programs are:

1.        Evaluate a child's eating habits to establish their current nutritional status
2.        Through interactive learning, teach children how to make good food choices
3.        Develop a nutritional improvement plan of action for parents to apply at home
4.        Monitor the child's progress  to achieve desired results

Evaluate the child's eating habits
The first step in moving your child towards better eating habits gaining a solid understanding of where the
child is at currently with their food choices.   First, we gather a list of the child's current food choices using a 5-
7 day food journaling process.   Second, we’ll analyze the results and develop an education action plan.
Included in this session is a discussion with parents of the wellness objectives for their children.

Teach children how to make good food choices
Through interactive learning and object lessons, we assist children in learning the difference between
healthy foods and unhealthy foods  We then apply the learning by doing age appropriate activities to reinforce
good eating choices.

Develop nutritional plan of action
Once the child and parent have a solid understanding of good food choices, it’s now time to put a plan into
action!   A list of recommendations is developed that includes:

1.        Healthy alternatives to the child's current food choices
2.        A compilation of recipes that are both healthy, easy to make and kid friendly

Monitor the child's progress
The application of what we learn is what helps us achieve our desired results!  In this module, we offer the
following options:

1.        Trip to a local grocery store to help children discover where healthy foods are located.
2.        Additional coaching to overcome an child's lifestyle obstacles to better nutrition
3.        Ongoing coaching and follow up per parent's request (additional fees apply)
