This program is about you and for you so sessions 2-4 are customized to meet your family's unique needs.
The Basics of Good Nutrition In Session 2, through interactive learning we assist families in learning the basics of good nutrition and what our bodies need to grow and stay healthy for a lifetime. We then apply the learning by doing age appropriate activities to reinforce good eating choices. We'll spend time in the kitchen learning how to make foods that are not only quick and easy but healthy, too!
Becoming a Label Detective In this Session, we get into the land of the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. We learn which foods are good for us, which foods we should only eat sometimes and which foods are downright bad for our health. We spend time learning how to read food labels and then put it into action by looking at real food labels and comparing healthy and unhealthy food options. What foods are in your pantry and refrigerator - are they healthy or not?? It's time to find out in Session 3.
Bringing it all Together The application of what we learn is what helps us achieve our desired results! In this session, we review what we've learned and talk about what we're going to do differently going forward to move towards making healthier food choices. In addition to our group discussion, we offer the following options:
1. Trip to a local grocery store to help families discover where healthy foods are located. 2. Time in the kitchen learning how to make healthy foods that your family will enjoy
