Family/Children's Nutrition Coaching
Would you and your family like to know more about the basics of nutrition and making
healthy food choices but don’t know where to start?
 Then our family nutritional
coaching program is for you!

The program is made up of four individual sessions that are tailored to meet your family’s need for nutrition
education and practical implementation of better food choices.  In the family’s own home environment, we
cover:

1.       The current state of our health in America and the rising obesity crisis among adults and children
2.        The basics of good nutrition - what we should be eating to grow and stay healthy for life
3.        Becoming a label detective - knowing which foods are hurting our health and how to recognize them
4.        Bringing it all together - now that we know about better nutrition, where do we go from here?

Did you know that:

35% of children are now considered overweight or obese and the numbers are climbing
It's estimated that 1/3 of the children born in 2000 and later will have Type II diabetes in their lifetime
Cancer is the #1 killer of children
By age 12, 70% of our children have developed the beginning stages of hardening of the arteries

The current health crisis in America and your family's unique nutritional challenges
In Session 1, we'll talk about the health and obesity crisis that America's children and adults are experiencing and the positive impact that good food choices make on preventing diseases like diabetes, cancer and heart
disease.  We'll spend time talking about your family's unique nutritional challenges and what you want to
achieve from the program.  This program is about you and for you so sessions 2-4 are customized to meet
your family's unique needs.

The Basics of Good Nutrition
In Session 2, through interactive learning we assist families in learning the basics of good nutrition and what
our bodies need to grow and stay healthy for a lifetime.  We then apply the learning by doing age appropriate
activities to reinforce good eating choices. We'll spend time in the kitchen learning how to make foods that
are not only quick and easy but healthy, too!

Becoming a Label Detective
In this Session, we get into the land of the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.  We learn which foods are good for us,
which foods we should only eat sometimes and which foods are downright bad for our health.   We spend
time learning how to read food labels and then put it into action by looking at real food labels and comparing
healthy and unhealthy food options.  What foods are in your pantry and refrigerator - are they healthy or not??
It's time to find out in Session 3.

Bringing it all Together
The application of what we learn is what helps us achieve our desired results!  In this session, we review
what we've learned and talk about what we're going to do differently going forward to move towards making
healthier food choices.  In addition to our group discussion, we offer the following options:

1.        Trip to a local grocery store to help families discover where healthy foods are located.
2.        Time in the kitchen learning how to make healthy foods that your family will enjoy
